Outside aid includes funds made directly to a student by non-school affiliates, businesses, organizations, groups, or individuals. 
Before you Search:
- Beware; there are scholarship scammers amongst us!
- Note that the scholarship search web sites to which we provide links do not charge for the search; however, some websites may sell your name to other companies. When you register to participate in the search, you should consider whether you want to receive mailings from groups who may buy your name and address from the website owners.

2015 Helen Bader Foundation Academic Scholarship Grant

25 Education awards in amounts from $500-$2000 will be awarded in 2015

Criteria and Process:
• The applicant will provide academic enrollment demonstrating they have completed some coursework in the pursuit of the ADVANCED NURSING DEGREE with at least one year remaining in the curriculum. Part or Full-time enrollment status are acceptable.
• The applications will be completed in a WLN Web-based application process utilizing a specific data entry process of criteria specific to the Helen Bader grant.
• RURAL EMPLOYMENT in an area supporting adult geriatric services MUST be evident in the short answer questions and in the location of employment and service description of the applicant’s submission. The applicant with RURAL home residence will be scored higher using a calculation factor in the review process.
• A provision of this “Call for Academic Scholarship” will state the EXCLUSION of applicants who work in the Greater Milwaukee and Madison counties.
• The applicants will be screened for evidence of intended academic enrollment in the semester following the planned distribution
• A formal academic search engine to assure student status in an accredited nursing school will be completed by WLN Scholarship committee in cooperation with the WLN executive assistant

Distributions of funds will be subject to verification of inclusion and exclusion criteria and academic "good standing" and continued enrollment in a nursing course of study. The Awarded disbursements will be directed to the financial aide office of the School of Nursing for tuition payment use in the calendar academic year of 2016.

Funds are distributed according to a Helen Bader approved distribution plan in accordance with the criteria reviewed by the Wisconsin League for Nursing Scholarship Committee and the Executive Board and WLN Directors.

2015 Helen Bader Foundation Grant: Certification in Gerontology 

WLN Certification Nursing Scholarship Grants:  A divided distribution of $5,000.00 annually one year grant for credentialing support of post-graduate candidates (BSN, MS, NP, DNP, PhD) whose intent is to seek a Certification in ADULT GERONTOLOGY. 13 potential awards for ANCC certification tests are available for 2015.


•  Employed in a setting that provide care for geriatric clients in the STATE of WISCONSIN
•  A resident of the STATE of WISCONSIN
•  A Wisconsin Licensed registered nurse in good standing through the Board of Nursing
•  Intent to take an Adult-Geriatric Credentialing TEST within 6 months of the application.
•  The CREDENTIALING FUNDS cannot be used for re-credentialing as the goal of the demonstration project is to increase the   number of certified nurses in the State of Wisconsin
•  Current Job description OR in the case of a recent graduate of an advanced nursing degree program (Clinical Nurse Specialist or Doctorate of Nursing), planned employment validation that requires certification as a basis for employment with an employment affidavit of applicant’s current or intended job outlining adult-geriatric knowledge or skills requirements.
•  The following certification areas will be considered as described by the American Nursing Credentialing Center ANCC and endorsed by the American Geriatrics Society:
     •  Gerontological Nursing (RN-BC)
        Eligibility Criteria
     Hold a current, active RN license within a state or territory of the United States
     Have practiced the equivalent of 2 years full-time as a registered nurse.
     Have a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical practice in the specialty area of gerontological nursing within the last 3years.
            Have completed 30 hours of continuing education in gerontological nursing within the last 3 years.

The Wisconsin League for Nursing, in cooperation with the Helen Bader Foundation, reserve the right to alter and amend these awards, rules and disbursements related to the above referenced scholarships and grants.

Green Bay Area P.E.O. Reciprocity Scholarship

Scholarship Range up to $7,000. Applicant must have at least 24 consecutive months as a non-student sometime in her adult life and be within 24 months of completing her educational goal.

Forest History Scholarship – 2016

The Forest History Association of Wisconsin Scholarship is available to any Lake States full time undergrad or graduate student (12 credits or more) who is pursuing a degree at any public or private College or University.

Nurse Corps Schoalrship

The NURSE Corps Scholarship Program provides nursing students with financial support in exchange for a commitment to serve at least two-years in a qualifying NURSE Corps site.
Eligible Applicants
• U.S. citizens (born or naturalized), nationals or lawful permanent residents
• enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a professional nursing degree program (baccalaureate, graduate, associate degree, or diploma) at accredited school of nursing located in the U.S.
• begin classes no later than September 30
• free from any Federal judgment liens
• free from existing service commitments
• not delinquent on a Federal debt
Selection Criteria
Preference is given to qualified applicants with the greatest financial need who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited nursing program or nurse practitioner program as full-time students.
Participants receive:
• tuition
• eligible fees
• other reasonable costs, such as books, clinical supplies/instruments and uniforms.
• monthly stipend of ($1,330 for the 2016-2017 academic year)

Nurses Foundation of Wisconsin

Up to four scholarships are awarded annually at $2,000.  Money to fund the scholarship is obtained through donations to WNA’s APRN Forum and other methods of fundraising.

Jaycees of Wisconsin Foundation Scholarship 

In 1993, a scholarship fund was established and named to honor Denise Bertucci, an outstanding Jaycee who died in 1992 after a courageous battle with cancer.  The Denise Bertucci Memorial Scholarship fund is for scholarship(s) for the nontraditional students - those returning to school after a break in their formal education. 

The Bertucci Scholarship fund for 2016 is budgeted at $1,000.00, and the Scholarship Committee will review all applications received and award the available funds accordingly.
